With the huge increase of mass production in the Victorian era, there was a surge in interest in credit given for craftsmanship, leading to the beginning of exclusive logos. The first ever trademarked logotype was back in 1876 for London Bass Brewery.
Isn't it funny how 'craftsmanship' and 'crafted' is now back in vogue. Trends like fashion, will always cycle over time.
